A study done by the Journal of Consumer Research recently found that if a car has human characteristics, people are more likely to identify with that anthropomorphized vehicle. Ann L. McGill (University of Chicago) writes,
“We find that if the product has a feature that is typically associated with a human prototype, then people are more likely to humanize the product, and also evaluate it more positively.”
Researchers also theorize that if people are presented anthropomorphized vehicles they’ll shift their evaluation tactics from that of auto evaluation to human evaluation. Here are 10 examples of vehicles with human smiles.
The 2010 Mazda 3 looks like it’s happy.
So does this concept car.
An evil smile from this Mazda prototype maybe?
Maybe something more old school
The snow doesn’t get this guy down!
This BMW looks a little angry.
This car is not amused.
This one is looking at you but trying not to be seen.
Seems like this car might have two smiles going on.
