The Jeep 2010 Commander has style and off-road gumption. This well designed seven-seater is spacious, boxy and true retro. This midsize Jeep has a boxy look to it, although spacious, the third rows are quite cramped and the ride is choppy enabling you to feel every bump and pothole you cross. Rear visibility is limited and the 3.7-liter V6 and 5.7-liter V8 engines have poor fuel economy and are sadly underpowered for such a rugged jeep.
There are two available trim levels available for the Jeep Commander 2010; the Limited and the Sport. The Sport trim level comes with alloyed 17-inch wheels, foglights, a roof rack, exterior heating mirrors, parking sensors for the rear, full power accessories, air-conditioning for both the front and rear, a tilt-and-telescoping steering column, a powered eight-way driver seat, a second row 40/20/40-split bench, a third row 50/50-split bench, satellite radio, a CD/MP3 player with six speakers and an audio auxiliary jack. Also available for the Sport are optional Sound and Sun Group features that include a sunroof, a rearview camera, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, heated front seats, leather upholstery, a navigational touchscreen system as well as real-time traffic reporting, iPod integration, Bluetooth, 30GB of music storage and an audio system that has been upgraded for quality sound. You can also include the chrome exterior trim package as well.
The Limited trim level includes exterior auto-dimming mirrors, a power liftgate, remote engine start, dual-zoned climate control, power-adjustable pedals, second-row heated seats and driver seat memory as well as all the features included in the Sun and Sound Group. Options you can choose are Xenon headlights, an entertainment system for the rear seat, adaptive headlights as well as Chrome Exterior trim and Towing trim packages.
Both the Limited and Sport models can come with two or 4WD with the Sport having a Quadra-Trac basic 4WD system which you could get a Quadra-Trac II 4WD upgrade that is found on the Limited trim level. The Quadra-Drive II system is optional for the Limited and it includes assisted hill start, electronic limited-slip differentials for the front and rear and hill descent control.
Powertrain performance is quite adequate for the Jeep Commander 2010; there are two available engines offered. The Sport model comes equipped with a 3.7-liter V6 that can produce up to 210 hp and 235 pound-feet of torque. As an option for the Sport but is standard for the Limited is a V-8 5.7-liter engine that can produce up to 357 hp and 389 pound-feet of torque. Both engines are coupled with a five-speed automatic transmission. The V6 can get a fuel consumption of 15/20/16 mpg (with a 6,500 lb towing capacity) and the V8 can get an estimate of 14/20/16 mpg (with a 7,400 lb towing capacity) while 4WD can get 13/19/15 mpg; all are very disappointing indeed considering how much power there is under the hood.
