A Day Tarred in Traffic Jam in The Garden City of Bangalore

A day’s of hard work in office and people like to retire to their homes as soon as possible as to have a goodnight sleep and to wake up fresh in the morning. But almost everyday, in a huge city like Bangalore a number of Traffic Jams have been prevalent due to rains, coupled with the VIP’s (Very Important Person) functions and even festival celebrations-wherein a full day had been lost by the citizens living here of just been stuck in a huge Traffic Jam for hours together in the Garden City of Bangalore!! Just Imagine the Plight of the Ambulances on an Emergency in these instances. Can’t the VIP’s organize their functions during the weekends instead of having them on weekdays and causing a number of inconveniences to the public on hand!!

A Day Tarred in Traffic Jam

We struggle from the time we have been a kid and then try to excel in academics with distinctions or good marks and try to be independent while acquiring a job in India where it is required to put in 8 hours of hard work and after a day’s of hard work, the people like to retire to their homes as soon as possible in order to have a goodnight sleep and wake up fresh to continue with whatever job they have. But in the process these office goers have to deal with rains, protests, festivals and also VIP visits.

Returning from office on September 15th, 2011 the Thursday, the rains had subsided but interestingly the Main Road leading to my home had been struck by a huge traffic jam with vehicles not been able to move even an inch and not a single traffic policeman had been here to control the traffic. Looking at this, I had taken another road to avoid this traffic jam but this road was also stuck with a huge Ganesha idol erected in the middle of the road with a Pandal in place. Immediately, I turned left from this road and I found that I was unable to move my vehicle not even at a snail pace as a Park just near my locality was been inaugurated by the MLA of CV Raman Nagar, Bangalore from 6:30-8 p.m (1 1/2hrs.in total), which is the peak hours of traffic in Bangalore city always, who has been the MLA for our locality for years together. I was also surprised to see that at this place, there was not even a single traffic personnel stationed here too to direct the traffic when there is already a traffic police station situated in this area itself.  It was already 8:30 p.m. by the time I had reached my home.

Just imagine the plight of ambulances carrying people in these instances on an emergency and of those people who have to deal with an emergency on hand.

Is this the way a VIP, an MLA here who has been an MLA for years together to look into the welfare of their people, doesn’t he/she know the peak hours of traffic in the IT capital city still? Arriving late at home, even the wives will question their husbands-Where have you been and why are you late for dinner- remember you have to drop your kids to school tomorrow!!- Who will answer these questions? Will these VIP’s answer them?

What’s the sense of keeping a number of functions of VIP’s on weekdays? Can’t it be held during the weekends?

Not surprisingly, the media too had a kept a huge silence on this matter as no newspaper had reported about the traffic jam in this area.

Is this the way for the VIP’s and the Media to look into the welfare of the Indian citizens?

These VIP’s only give false promises and nothing more than that, we have to fend for ourselves indeed!!
