Austria – VW Golf

Austria had a strong year with a final increase of 15% in December. For all in Austria last year were registered 356 145 new cars, an increase of 8% compared to 2010. The best selling model in Austria is Volkswagen Golf (16,777 units) followed by Volkswagen Polo (11,916 units) and Opel Astra (8158 units). The list is completed by SEAT Ibiza, Skoda Fabio and Skoda Octavia.
Romania – Dacia Logan

In Romania, Dacia was again leading the market in 2011 with a share of 28.9%. Local manufacturer had sold 343,000 units last year, of which only 30,867 have found the owner in Romania. The rest took to export, France being the largest market for Dacia, with 94,278 units sold in 2011. In Romania, the best selling model was the Dacia Logan. 15,830 units were sold in Romania last year. The second in preference Romanians and three Skoda Octavia is Dacia Duster.
Belgium – VW Golf
Belgians have had a record year despite the economic crisis. Car market increased by 5% compared to 2010. Total cars sold in Belgium was 572,211 units, a figure that propelled Belgium ranks 20th worldwide, just behind the “elite” UK-France-Germany-Italy-Spain. Volkswagen Golf is the first Belgian favorite among models, with 20,144 units. Renault Megan comes two (18 392) and three VW Polo (16 295). Very interesting is that, although half the population of Romania (10.8 million), Belgians have bought more copies than the Romanians Dacia Duster (8111 cars, ranked 12th).
Finland – Skoda Octavia

Finland is another European country where the market has grown compared to 2010. December was good month for car sellers in the Nordic country. 6743 cars were registered and the total for 2011 was 124,477 units. This means an increase of 13% since 2010. Most appreciated by the Finnish model was Skoda Octavia. In 2011 they were bought 5937 units of this model. This is the first time that Skoda has a model first in Finland. Volkswagen Golf comes as second place, followed by the Toyota Avensis and Nissan Qashqai.
Germany – VW Golf
Germany confirms its position of European economy and drivers in the automotive field. In December 2011 car sales rose by 6% and for 2011 all German car market increased by 9% compared to 2010. all cars sold in 2011 in Germany: 3,173,634 units. Of course, first in German preferences is Volkswagen Golf (258,259 units). It is the 31st consecutive time when Golf is on first. For the first time in history, however, Volkswagen podium monopolizes the best selling cars in Germany. Two is VW Passat (103,507 units) and three VW Polo (90,720 units).
Greece – Opel Corsa
In Greece, the best selling model was the Opel Corsa, with 6021 units. The leader of last year, Toyota Yaris, passed on second with 4698 units sold. The third place is occupied among Greek VW Polo.
Italy – Fiat Punto
In Italy car market fell by 11% compared to 2010. It is the worst year for the Italian market since 1996 until today. Thus, in 2011 there were sold 1,757,649 cars. The best selling model in Italy is Fiat Punto (122,288 units) followed closely by Fiat Panda (115,863 units). The third place is occupied by Ford Fiesta followed by Fiat 500 and Lancia Ypsilon. Fiat Punto is the best selling model in Italy for 18 consecutive years. Another curiosity is that, by Giulietta, Alfa Romeo reached the top 10 models sold in a year in Italy for the first time since 1990.
Netherlands – VW Polo
Dutch market statistics show that the country is geared especially toward Tulip mini and small segments of the automotive industry. Best models sold in 2011 in the Netherlands were VW Polo (20,144 units), Renault Twingo (21,439) and Peugeot 107 (20 897). Moreover, until we see no seventh compact and the first model of the upper segment of mini, small and compact is the VW Passat, ranked just 16th place. Very interesting is that Dacia – which has a portfolio of small segment models only – not catch all the Dutch public, despite the fan club of Logan MCV customers have started in this country. The best selling model in the Dacia Duster Netherlands in 2011 (2131 units, 78th place).
France – Renault Clio
France concluded in 2011 with a total of 2,204,065 units sold, a decrease of only 2% compared to 2010. French preferred a local car, Renault Clio is the best selling model in the Hexagon. Clio 123 827 units were sold in France. Second place is occupied by 207 units to 103 321 and Citroen C3 is three with 79,364 units sold in 2011. Interestingly, the French market have a Romanian model in the top 10. 10th place with 51 612 Duster is Dacia units sold in France last year.
United Kingdom – the Ford Fiesta
Britain had a decrease of 4% in 2011. 1,941,253 units were sold. Ford Fiesta is number one in the British preference for the third consecutive year. 96,122 units were registered last year. The second is 81,832 units and Ford Focus are Vauxhall Corsa three with 77,751 units sold. Then comes the VW Golf, Vauxhall Astra and Vauxhall Insignia.
Spain – Ibiza
Spain had a decrease of 18% in 2011 with a total of 809,948 units sold. For the Spanish market was the weakest year since 1993 until today. As expected, the SEAT Ibiza Spanish preferred. The class B is best sold in Spain. Nissan Qashqai is second followed by Renault Megane. On top are Seat Leon, VW Golf and VW Polo.
Switzerland – VW Golf
Swiss market grew by 8% compared to 2010. Total cars sold in 2011 is 318,358 units. Eleveţienilor first preferences is Volkswagen Golf, with 12,708 units registered. Skoda Octavia two ranks with 9297 pieces and three VW Polo with 7584 units. The ranking is completed by Opel Astra, VW Passat and Peugeot 207.
Sweden – Volvo V70
In the north, Volvo celebrates 16th consecutive year ranked first in customer preferences Swedes. This year, the Volvo V70 was the first place with 22,207 units sold. Swedes have bought many VW Passat and VW Golf.
Russia – Lada Kalina
Russia is a slightly atypical market. Although it is considered one of the areas where car sales will crelte exponentially in the coming years, emerging market in Russia remains true national brand. Thus, the first four places of the ranking of models sold in this country are four models Lada. The best selling model Lada Kalina (142,930 units), second place is Lada Priora (138,696 units), and three is Lada Samara (122.473). Logan and Sandero (sold under the Renault brand) are 7 and 14, and best-selling model of non-Russian brands Solaris is Hyundai (Accent).
Hungary – Skoda Octavia
Hungarian neighbors prefart 2011 Skoda Octavia. The Czech is best sold on a market that grew by 7% over the previous year. 3079 Octavia preferred customers last year. In second place came the Opel Astra (2759) and former leader came three Ford Focus (2541 cars). Fourth (VW Golf) enshrines the image of a country in which compacts are an important part of the market. The bien-selling model in the Dacia Duster Hungary (13th place, 894 units).
REST OF WORLD: Between pick-ups, hybrids and trademarks surprise
U.S. Outside Europe, things are quite different. In the United States of America, Ford F-Series truck is 30 years when the best model. In 2011 nothing has changed, Ford pick-up being bought by 584,917 Americans. In second place is also a pick-up, Chevrolet Silverado and three finding first sedan: Toyota Camry.
CHINA: The world’s largest market for us, as usual, interesting surprises in Chapter cars. Best selling car in this country is Buick Excel (253,514 units), China is the only market in the world that Buick is the leader. The Volkswagen Lavida comes second (247.475) and the final podium position ranks Chevrolet Cruze (221.196).
AUSTRALIA: 2011 Mazda3 has managed to impose the preferences of people across the globe (41,429 units sold), displacing the Japanese model to local model Holden Commodore first (second, 40 617 cars). Third place is a model Automarket just tested: Toyota Hilux, a robust pick-up only good for everyday work by Australian cities (36,124 units).
JAPAN: Japanese prove a rational people, they prefer Toyota Prius. The hybrid model was the best selling car in Japan with 252,528 units registered archipelago. To get an idea of the gap between Japan and Romania in Chapter machines, know that Romanians have bought the same period 11 copies Prius. Toyota hybrid was followed by the Honda Fit (Jazz in Europe) and Toyota Vitz (Yaris). The best selling model in Japan is imported Volkswagen Golf.
INDIA: Indians turned to domestic brands. And even though many might think that Tata Nano, the cheapest car in the world, is the most sold car, things are slightly different. Nano is somewhere on the site of the 14th century, the first position being awarded the Maruti brand. The best selling model in India is the Maruti Alto (previous generation Suzuki Alto, with 300,950 units sold). Hyundai i10 coming two (159,158 cars), and Maruti Wagon R is three (156,509 cars).
BRAZIL: Another growing market with enormous potential and is in Brazil. First place in the South American state (VW Gol, Polo’s size model) has gathered nearly 300 thousand units sold (293,454 cars). In second place comes Fiat Uno (273,537 cars), and the Chevrolet Celta podium far end of the two leading cars: 149,044 copies sold.
