Car Insurance – The Illusion of Safety

We can insure absolutely everything- but it does not necessarily make life safer.

How safe can we be?

There is absolutely one thing to be sure of: you can insure everything! Obviously all of us have heard of car insurances. And the one or the other might have found himself in the position of thinking of one of these amazing excuses when he (or she!) had to use the insurance… funny motor insurance claims http://www.businessballs.com/insuranceclaims.htm.

Beside this we can insure our home, our travels, we can insure our pets, our health. We can get special insurances if we are young, or over 65, even for women there are special insurances (hope nobody takes offence here). We insure our teath, our windscreen, our van and our bike. We can even insure our life!

All counted together most of us will pay possibly around 10-15% of their net income on insurances – at least I do. I have to admit that I feel better after I had most of the insurances taken out, found a cheap car insurance and had my teeth, my home and my life insured.

So completely safe? I think -and after some personal life events probably sooner or later everybody comes to the conclusion- that all safety is an illusion and that at any given moment we can loose everything: car, health, windscreen, teeth or life.

One conclusion of this thought, that took me some years to get to, is to live life to its full extend at any given moment. Not to be afraid of changes as change is a condition of life. And also to be grateful for every day where I still have my health, life, teeth, windscreen and of course my car!
