Dramatic Boeing 727 Landing Without Nose Gear (Video)

Captain Hooshang Shahbazi flying Iran Air flight IR-742 from Moscow to Teheran had to face a situation which no pilot would like to. His Nose Landing Gear did not show a down and locked indication and he couldn’t land after his initial approach. This video is of his second landing approach after being diverted to Tehran’s Mehrabad Airport.

The crew tried to troubleshoot the problem in the air but could not. After visual confirmation that the landing gear was indeed not down. The captain decided to land the plane as there was no other option left.

The video shows a smooth landing minus the nose gear. it’s astounding to watch the big B727  nose almost staying suspended before it gently drops to the ground. The plane then rolls slowly to a stop in the runway as rescue vehicles approach it.

There were no reported injuries.
