Certainly from the engineering point ofview it was a quite remarkable revolution. Two years later Jean-Pierre Peugeot said to me ‘You know, when you brought out that car, you gave us a fright’. It was a well thought-out vehicle and much ahead of its time. A car that did 80mph, weighed 14cwt, had six seats and did 40mpg. That really was quite something.”Bionier, who was an amazing person, had conceived the car so that there was a front part and a rear | part which were assembled separately from the body, so you could have a shorter assembly line, the car taking up as little space as possible. “The Dyna 54 body was made by the body was almost as low as for a really mass-production model. With the Dyna 54 we believed we could have developed into a mass-producer. We could perhaps have made it! That said, we were blocked in by our assembly procedures.”
