According to a brochure published by Ferrari at the end of 1946, versions of the 125 should have been three: S coupe with a single carburetor, S Competition Spider at the GP with three carburetors and three compressors.
Neither the GP nor the S coupe never saw the light, while the Competition Spider underwent several changes designed to increase the power, from the initial 100 hp up to 118 last version.
Franco Cortese debuted on the Piacenza circuit in May 1947 with little success, Enzo Ferrari wrote that it is a highly promising failure. Two weeks after Cortese won the Grand Prix of Rome, near the Baths of Caracalla.
