The suspension and Turner’s own trailing arm, Panhard rod rear suspension. It was powered by an Austin-Healey Sprite engine producing 80bhp in race tune. A year later it was rebuilt with a full Stage 3 Coventry Climax 1220cc engine that gave 98bhp and propelled it to 1 OOmph in a fraction over 20 sees.The car then embarked on a successful racing career and mained a one-off because Jack Turner was developing his own Turner GT.
The history of die car from 1962 is sketchy, but it was found in a barn in the Bradford area about 10 years ago and transferred to similar storage in Shropshire where it remained until being bought last month by Russell Filby of the Fairthorpe Sports Car Club’s Turner Register. Filby now plans to restore the car to its original specification and is trying to fill in the gaps in its history. Letters will be forwarded.
