How to Act at an Interview

How to act at an interview.

1. The first thing a employer sees at a person is the smile. You should smile when you enter the room because that shows confidence. You should give immediately a handshake and introduce yourself with something like “I am glad to know you” or “It is a pleasure to meet you”. Be honest and you should avoid the greetings that you usually use with your friends. You should have a polite style.

2.  You have to read your interviewer  attitude. If he is formal you should be formal as well. If he is not, you can try to be less formal but keep being professional and polite but in the both situations you have to seem relax but not to relax. It’s not a good idea to put your legs on the interviewer’s desk.

3. The good manners tells you to accept if you are invited to seat down or you have to ask for permission before doing so and then give the thanks.

4.  If it is possible, without making nose, pull your seat closer to the desk, that shows interest for what he is saying. Try to keep a distance, don’t overrun the personal space of the interviewer, keeping a 2 meters distance from him.

5. Pay attention to your attitude. If you don’t know how to put your hands you should keep them on your knees.

6.  Keep eye contact with the intetrviewer. You should avoid staring at him, you don’t want to make him feel bad but don’t look to much in other directions. That can send a signal of distrust. It may seem you are lying.

7. Don’t eat, drink, chew gum or smoke. Don’t even ask if it is OK to do it. But if the interviewer offers you something to drink it is OK to accept.

8.  Usually you will negotiate your salary at the next meetings. Don’t give to much attention at this thing, you shouldn’t be the one to bring it up but you have to be prepared at any moment.
