After spending over $50.00 for restoration kits to clean my headlights, I found the perfect solution which you probably have in your garage.
I was having trouble seeing at night when I drove my car when I got out of the car and noticed my headlights where all fogged up or what I later found out by the automotive industry experts is called cloudy head lights caused by oxidation.
I was told I should purchase a restoration kit which involves buffing the head light with the special sponge the kit provides and applying some kind of chemical on the buffing wheel. I did indeed purchase the restoration kit from the television add on television one night.
I followed the instructions to the letter with poor results. I returned the item via mail and I was fully refunded which was nice.
The following week I went to another local store and purchased another restoration kit, I again followed the instructions to the letter with better results but I was not pleased and again returned the item with a full refund and no questions asked.
As you all know I have to have at least 300 words to make this an article so I’ll talk about my car. I have a 2005 Hyundai Elantra which has been a great car and very economical. The front head light problem began a few weeks ago when I was driving home from an event. I could barely see the road and it was a real safety issue. Luckily I made it home safe, and have been attempting to solve this problem with as I said earlier with two different kinds of clarifying products, or restoration kits available on-line, via television commercials , or at your local automotive store.
I do not know if other specialized products work on other vehicles that had the same problem I had, but I do know the two products I tried did not work and I was very disappointed.
When I returned my second restoration kit for my headlights I was talking to the clerk about this problem and I expressed my disappointment with the product I just purchased. She told me her son was in the automotive industry and what they were using to repair foggy headlights was transmission fluid.
The clerk asked me if I wanted to try another restoration kit and I told her that I was going to try your son’s method first.
I went home got some transmission fluid from the garage and liberally applied the liquid with a rage to my headlights and within one minute the lens cover looked near new. I was very happy and couldn’t believe my eyes.
I do not know if this will work for all headlight covers on all cars but it sure worked on mine.
Good luck and I hope this article will help you if you have the same problem.
