Thinking about buying a new or used car? Want a little more muscle or power? Does the amount of gas used run through your mind? Well for many, buying a V8 vehicle is not a smart thing to do in today’s economy. First, you should know that a V8 engine gets the worst fuel economy out of any other cylinder vehicles, well that’s if you don’t count the rare 10 cylinder vehicle’s you see on the road. I drive a V8 GT and get 17 city/24 highway mpg. Not the best, but not the saddest either. I purchased my v8 beast three years ago when it wasn’t that bad in gas prices. I don’t complain, I can sacrifice some gas for my ride in the mustang, but if I was in the process of buying a car it would not be an 8 cylinder. Another factor of buying an 8 cylinder is that the insurance is higher. Don’t know why, but the insurers probably just think that the more power the more dangerous. Ten years ago it would have been ok to buy any vehicle, but now it is not a smart move too buy a v8 vehicle.
