Life is too short to hurry through. That’s what I said to my in a rush friend the other day. She thought the opposite that the shortness of life was all the more reason to hurry.
I guess maybe if your purpose in life is to accomplish things and get things done, hurrying makes sense. But if you’re purpose is to have fun and enjoy life. rushing is definitely not the way to go. Rushing is no fun.
Come to think about it, I’m not sure rushing makes sense even if your purpose is to accomplish things. After if you rush you are apt to make mistakes which you have to correct which will slow you down.
There’s a difference between rushing and moving fast. You can be moving fast and still have things under control. If you’re hurrying that means you’ve lost control.
Some people are just by nature fast movers. They may look like they’re rushing but really they’re just going at their natural speed. I’m not one of those people. I am by nature a slow person. I do everything slowly. I walk slowly, drive slowly, eat slowly. I even grew up slowly. My older brother used to be my younger brother. It takes me two hours to watch 60 Minutes.
If your one of those “always in a hurry” people experiment! Try slowing down. See if you feel better. See if you get even more accomplished. Report back and let me know.
