Officially The Fastest Car in The World

Now officially the fastest car in the world and street-legal, 0-60mph in under one second and 0-220mph in a face stretching six seconds.

A guy from Wolverhampton City in the west midlands built the fastest street-legal car in the world. Now he ownes his very own 0-60mph in under one second, and 0-220mph in six seconds, flying machine. The man who built this awesome vehicle is a drag racer called, Andy Frost.

To look at the shape of this car a couple of years ago, it seemed about as aerodynamically stable as a house-brick. But, now its had a face lift and given something special to lurk beneath its bonnet to push it through the air. Two huge(and i mean huge) turbos, which are individually the size of over-pumped footballs. These two turbo’s aren’t typically found in cars. In fact, the ones this race-driver fitted to it are found in large diggers. To stop the car it has two ginormous parachutes attached to the rear.

It took over 1,600 hours for Andy to build his vehicle.

The car started out as a 1972 Vauxhall Victor saloon, which he purchased in the 1980’s for £60.

Skip to 2011 and it has 3,000bhp and weighs in at 1,200kg,that’s 2,500bhp/tonne.

He’s taken a old Vauxhall Victor and turned it into a turbo packed, fuel injected dragster, which is now worth over 100k and named “Red Victor 3″.

To use the vehicle on normal streets it requires for the turbos and fuel injection to be turned down, as the slightest pressure on the accelerator would have it going like the clappers. The 16×16-inch slicks that are fixed on also have to be changed for 15-inch normal tread tyres. It’s road-taxed and  MoT’d. So that makes this vehicle officially the fastest street-legal car in the world.

Andy has been so popular with his local community he was awarded sponsorship from his local council and Vauxhall themselves.
