Greetings, dear readers. I read today on Autoblog about a new truck that Ram, the truck arm of the Chrysler corporation, split off from Dodge, is considering pushing to market. This vehicle, called the “Ram Long-Hauler”, apparently mates a Ram 3500 pick-up’s 8-foot bed to a Ram 5500’s chassis cab, adding up to an overall length of 24 feet. A Cummins 6.7 liter diesel will provide power, that is 350 horses and a stonking 800 ft-lb of torque. Those numbers pale before this almost-a-big-rig’s fuel tank, holding a superlative 170 gallons of fuel, which, assuming a 4.125-a-gallon diesel price, means over $700.00 a fill. That makes for some long hauls, indeed.
