In your time and age where people are moving and constantly relocating from state to state; country to country, the tendency is that people with cars, motorcycles or RV’s will take these vehicles when they move. This is where the auto transport business comes in. The high demand of services means jobs are available. Opportunities ranging from managerial post to engineering, truck drivers mechanics, customer relations are high in demand.

When you try to browse the classified ads in publications, you may notice that auto transport companies are in need of these workers. In this article I will provide a list of possible available jobs that are in demand in the shipping business. Keep in mind that the available jobs may change as per the demand of the industry; from time to time special needs for special kinds of workers are posted. Here is a list of possible jobs available:

1.       Truck drivers

This is the most in demand job in auto shipping industry. In this business, the basic mode of transporting a vehicle is by the use of a truck, either a closed carrier or an open one. Truck drivers are always needed when especially on peck season but these companies don’t just hire any truck drivers that come along, you must have a clean record and can follow instructions clearly. As a truck driver you will be responsible for loading the car and unloading it to its destination. Great responsibility is in your hands.

2.       Mechanical engineers

Even if an auto transport company does not ship abroad, they will still require a mechanical engineer to keep and oversee the maintenance of all the machinery. The engineer will oversee the operations on all the carriers and its conditions. There are a lot more things that an engineer can do, this is only an example.

3.       Mechanics

They work hand in hand with the driver and the engineer in maintaining the conditions of all the transport vehicles of the company. Mechanics works with the drivers in receiving the cars to be transported, they will be the one to check the condition and note if there are preexisting dents and bends of the car; they will also be the one to confirm that the claim made (if any) is valid or note based on the pre-shipment evaluation of the car.

4.       Manager

People with business degree may work as managers in the auto transport industry. They will have to monitor the market condition. This person knows how to mobilize people based on the abilities they have and they can basically run the company.

5.       Customer Service Representative

Customer service representative can play a vital role in running a reputable auto transport business. They are the ones that a customer has in contact first, and customers holds the “first impression lasts” rule. This person must have a skill to be able to talk to customers in a very pleasant voice and should know the company’s background and how it operates. The position of CSR is for people who love to talk to people.
