The Biggest Dump Truck in The World

The Titan is a massive truck and a great roadside attraction.

It is hard to put the Terex 33-19 Titan in perspective unless you are standing right next to it. This is known as the biggest truck in the world and is a tourist attraction in Sparwood, BC, Canada.

This massive truck was an offroad protype made by General Motors Canada in 1973. Only one was ever produced and it was used for 13 years.

Statistics of the Terex Titan

  • Length: 66ft 9 inches (20.35 meters)
  • Width: 25ft 7 inches (7.8 meters)
  • Height: 22ft 7inches (6.88 meters)
  • Weight: 260 tons
  • Wheel Base: 29ft 11 inches (9.12 meters)
  • Tires – 11 feet (3.4 meters) tall, and weigh 4 tons each

It can carry 350 tons and was used for mining, in the box it could hold 2 Greyhound buses and still have room for 2 pick up trucks.

The Terex Titan is in the Guiness book of Records as being the world’s largest tandem axle rear dumping hauler ever built.

Sparwood is in southeast British Columbia, you can easily see the Terex Titan from the highway or can pull in and visit it at no cost. The engine has been removed so all notions of driving this baby off the lot should be put aside.

If you visit Sparwood be sure to note the appearance of the mountains in the area. You will soon seen the results of mining as mountains are terraced, either being removed, or built as a result of this industry.

What really impressed me the most about the World’s largest truck was that as huge as it was, it was still tiny when compared to the mountains that surrounded us. I also enjoyed the unusual pastey yellow green color of the massive truck against the blue sky. I gather there are mining tours a person can also take in Sparwood but we did not take such a tour ourselves.
