The Italian Job Part 12

Car review.

Sukarov, we head down, the GTVs exhaust cackling into every tarn as we drop to the Swiss valley floor. On the up side, clogged with holiday traffic, we spot a Ferrari 330 stuck behind endless coaches. To enjoy the Gotthard in the summer it’s essential to rise early. Our next mission is the Schlumpf Collection at Mulhouse and we make great time blasting on to the German border and then over the Rhine. The GTVs capabilities as a lusty tourer impress as it eats up the kilometres in fifth, happily pacing modern traffic at 80mph running at 4000rpm. And when you need extra punch to pass, its eager delivery is inspiring. Even today the 2 -litre still feels quick with a 0-60mph in a respectable 9.2 sees with a top speed of around 120mph. We both agree you’d thinknothing of using it as an everyday commuter. Only the heavy low-speed steering might become a chore but a new set of tyres would probably cure that.
