Nissan LEAF earned the accolade as Car of the Year in Japan in 2011 – 2012, in the event the Tokyo Motor Show 2011. LEAF became the first electric car that gets the award, which had always been won by cars with gasoline engines. ”We’ve sold 20,000 Nissan LEAF, and we also have shown promise for developing environmentally friendly vehicles affordable to the global scale,” said President and CEO Nissan, Carlos Ghosn as reported byautoevolution , Tuesday, December 6, 2011.

Also awarded Car of the Year, this little car also successfully achieved the 2012 RJC Car of the Year Award which was held by researchers and Japanese automotive journalists. Leaf also had been named European Car of the Years Design by several media and automotive journalists in Europe. Nissan LEAF is an electric car that is equipped with lithium ion batteries. This car does not emit carbon dioxide (CO2) when turned on.LEAF iconic cars of the future that is environmentally friendly and economical.
