10 Points of Buying a Used Car

Automobiles which were considered as a luxury item till some time before turned out to be a necessity in today’s world. Distances are expanding and most of the households are having more than one vehicle nowadays. We are also aware that inflation is spreading everywhere and affecting everything, cars are no exception.  New & zero meter cars are so expensive that a normal middle class person can not afford them. He is only left with two options, either to look for leasing from any financial institution or to go for a used vehicle.  

As there are plenty of formalities to be fulfilled while opting option number one, it is lot easier to go for used vehicles, which are easily available in a wider range and they are much cheaper as well.

Mentioned below are few points that must be considered while buying a used car.

1.       Always decide before going to the market that what is your actual requirement, i.e. make &  model of the vehicle  and also your price range

2.       Never stop at the first shop and always survey the market before finalizing the deal. That will provide you a clear picture about the real market price of your desired vehicle.

3.       Thoroughly examine the body of the vehicle. Make sure that the car had not been suffered from any major accident. The most important parts of the car’s body are chassis & pillars, so check them carefully.

4.       Look at the paint of the vehicle, if it is completely repaint than the chances of any major accident are higher.

5.       Ask about the file (original documents) of the vehicle. Check out that who is the owner of the car and have a look at his identity card, check all the documents date wise.

6.       Match the engine, chassis and registration numbers of the car with the documents.

7.       Look at the number plates of the car as some sellers provide duplicate number plates, which later create problems to the purchaser.

8.       It is very important to examine the performance of the engine of the car; an expert opinion should be obtained at this point of time.

9.       Kindly also have a look at the condition of all four tires.  Make sure that the car will be handed over to you with all the accessories including jack, rod, nut opener and most importantly the spare wheel.

10.   Last but not the least it is strongly recommended to ensure the police record of the vehicle before the finalization of the deal.

By following the above mentioned guidelines it will be much easier & secure to buy a used or second hand vehicle. Remember that people will come up with many plans to make you fool. Sometimes they come up with burst silencer. The loud sound of the silencer will disguise every other mechanical fault. Tactics like these are very common these days.  

You should remain very alert and watchful and be prepare to make a quick and timely decision. People are really after good cars as they are very rare and they just come and go.
