Registration in Pennsylvania of a Motor Vechile or an Rv Camper

Well, now I have heard it all. We have been to the AAA three times and have to go back again.  Just to register a car and an RV from another state.

The first time they wanted the sales tax that was paid for the camper we were trying to register in Pennsylvania.

The second time, they needed another form to be filled out by the person who sold it to us, who happened to be our son.

Pennsylvania is the only state in the union that requires an unladen weight of a camper or fifth wheel. That is what we were told.

Well we went to a licensed RV repairman and he signed for the unladen weight. We returned back to the AAA. Oh, sorry, he forgot to add the gross vehicle weight and sign his name again.

We have to return again this week to get it registered and we sure hope that it has no more problems.

We also were trying to register a car our son gave us. Again they wanted the sales tax he paid in West Virginia. It is an 1989. Can he find it? No.

So he had to fill out another paper saying we bought it from him so Pennsylvania can get the sales tax.

Now, the last time too, it had to have the title and registration checked by a licensed mechanic and he had to sign it that the VIN number was the right one. Sorry if you had to take the vehicle out that was not registered. Take your chances we were told. You get stopped, just pay the fine.

Again we take it back to the AAA this week with all the information we had to have. Oh, yes, the last time we took it all in the computer went with ERROR. Of course they close in Harrisburg at 4:00. It was 4:30 p.m. No one could get the ERROR off. Well, they could send it all in but it would take about three to four weeks to get the plate back from Harrisburg and if there was any questions, well…you can understand what would happen.

Registering a vehicle is not easy today as it was years ago.
