So we have all mixed soap and water in a bucket when we wash a car. What we may not have realised is that there are many techniques that can be used to wash a car and make it look like it did when you first bought it.

The Circular Motion
The circular motion is the most commonly used technique when washing the hood or windshield of a car. This is a great technique on remove bug splatter, and dirt from places where these dirt particle may be embedded. This techniqe is also great for polishing cars leading to a long lasting shine.

The Up-Down Motion
This is the technique that is most commonly used on the side of a car or van. It allows for a smooth and controled clean in the end. Its uniformity also helps as using this technique, you will know if and when you miss a spot on your car.

The Everywhere Motion
The motion that is used by the car washer when they are in a very large rush. This is the least effective and least inefficient technique as the washer moves all over the vehicle in a hurry. In this hurry the car washer is likely to mss may dirt spots leading to an “unclean clean”.

The Drive-Through-Rain Technique
While not ideal for a full body wash it may still be effective for cleaning a windshield or a small area of a vehicle. If your thinking about trying this technique you may be better of doing the fifth one on this list instead.

The Gas Station Wash
Of all of the inventions that were invented to clean cars, the gas station car wash is the simplest. Just drive up to it, enter a code, and let the car wash do the rest.
