This mind-blowing traffic jam was not only long in the time sense of the word, but also in distance. It stretched for an incredible 100km which converts to approximately 62 miles. The road is a highway connecting a province north of Beijing with Inner Mongolia.
Frustrated drivers that were stuck living in their cars for nine long days complained to the media that they were over-charged by local merchants for food and other basic necessities.
This jam pointed out once again the difficulties that the country is going through due to over-population. The Chinese government has launched a new infrastructural plan that once done, will provide new roads and highways that will hopefully lower the number of traffic jams and make travel easier for millions of people.
