Chrissy Brown

Will the bad-boy singer ever repair his reputation?

If you enjoy the voice of Chris Brown, it must be hard for you to hear what people are saying about him lately.

While he has dimples that could melt your heart away and a voice that does pretty much the same, his recent violent antics are being criticized as immature–and possibly a publicity stunt.

After his temper tantrum on the set of Good Morning America, a headline in the New York Post read, “Chrissy Brown?,” mocking the fact that he seemed to have a hissy fit because the interview did not go according to plan. After being visibly frustrated during the interview, Brown stormed off the set, ripped off his shirt, screamed, and punched a hole in the glass window of the studio building.

According to Brown, his publicist agreed to the interview on terms that the conversation would be strictly limited to promoting his new album, F.A.M.E. While Robin Roberts welcomed Brown with a warm gesture and a mention of the album, she proceeded to jump right into questioning about his violent history with R & B/pop star Rhianna. Brown tried to steer the direction of the conversation toward his fans and his new album, but Robin did not seem to want to let his past go.

Brown has served his time as far as the incident was concerned. Some of his former fans are permenantly turned off, but those fans that are sticking with him are definitely seeing a new side of Brown. His new blonde hair is like a blast from the past (I think he is channeling “thong” lover Sisco) and he must have been spending equal time between the recording studio and the tatoo parlor. If you asked me, I’d say he is trying to renew his image, but I think he was just fine the way he was. He doesn’t need to appeal to the “bad boy” crowd because he’s already done that with his violent outbursts.

That being said, the kid deserves a fair interview. He is clearly trying to continue to make music and repair his image, so I can imagine the frustrations of being put on the spot.  Brown does need to realize, though, that he is in the spotlight constantly, so if he wants any chance of redemption, he needs to keep his actions in check.
