Practicing good driving habits makes the roads much safer for everyone involved. There are serious car accidents occurring on a daily basis unfortunately some of the accidents result in serious injury or death. There are many ways that a driver can improve their overall driving skill and safety.
First, I don’t care weather it is legal in a particular state to talk on the cell phone while driving don’t do it. If you have an emergency or simply must talk on the cell make sure you pull over so the car isn’t moving while you are taking or placing a cell call.
If you are listening to the radio or a CD, make sure you keep a moderate volume while driving. Loud music is defiantly a distraction to drivers. In addition, drive with both hands; you need two hands to gain full control of the vehicle. I have seen too many times drivers with one hand on the wheel.
If you have small children make sure they are secure in a car seat. There are laws enacted in nearly every state concerning child safety. Never allow a small child to sit in the front seat next to the driver.
Finally, make sure your vehicle is inspected and insured. If something does happen while driving the insurance will pretty much take care of everything once the deductible has been met. Always obey all traffic laws including lights, stop signs and speeding limit. So many accidents are caused by not complying with speed limit and stop sign laws. Obeying the speed limit is especially important when bad weather occurs. Ice, snow and rain may be major contributors to automobile accidents.
