The twin-turbocharged V8 engine produced 1,360 horsepower, channeled through an advanced seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Engineering behind extreme speed
Achieving extreme top speeds requires sophisticated engineering across multiple disciplines, not merely horsepower alone. The Agera RS was equipped with specially developed Michelin tyres rated for speeds above 440 km/h. Koenigsegg claims the Jesko Absolut could theoretically exceed 500 km/h, though this remains unconfirmed through public testing as of 2025.
Production numbers and exclusivity
Koenigsegg production remains extremely limited. Only 125 total Jesko units were announced, encompassing both the standard Jesko and the Absolut variant. Each car is hand-built at Koenigsegg's facility in Angelholm, Sweden. The combination of extreme performance and very limited production means Koenigsegg vehicles are among the most exclusive and sought-after hypercars in the world. Waiting lists extend years, and values for early examples have increased significantly on the secondary market.
Is Koenigsegg the fastest?
The answer depends on which metric you use. In terms of verified, officially documented production car top speed records, Koenigsegg's Agera RS holds a confirmed record of 447.19 km/h. The Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ has also exceeded 300 mph, or approximately 482 km/h, in a semi-official test, though Bugatti restricted the run to one direction rather than the two-way average required for official records. If the Jesko Absolut achieves its theoretical maximum, it would place Koenigsegg unambiguously at the top. For now, the brand remains one of the defining names in the pursuit of maximum production car velocity.
