Impressions: The Audi A5

I had the pleasure of getting an up close and personal glimpse of the Audi A5 at the auto show this year in Denver, Colorado. Before I get to the car I need to make a few observations of the show. It was quite pathetic especially compared to the show last year. A few car brands didn’t even bother coming to the show. Nissan didn’t show nor did Porsche and Mitsubishi. I was really interested in checking out the GTR and was hoping to get an up close encounter with that car. No such luck. The show was about half the size this year as compared to last year. A sign of how much the auto industry is struggling right now.

On to the A5. Audi is my brand. I love their cars and have been really excited with the direction the company has been taking the brand in the last 10 years. The Audi R8 is an amazing machine and the Q7 is the most luxurious SUV on the roads today. Audi was missing a little sports coupe. That was until they introduced the A5 two years ago. This car is great on all counts. Starting around $40,000 this car comes with all you need at the base model. For another $10,000 or so you can get it will all the luxuries.

The model I encountered had all the bells and whistles. A great NAV system, a really cool moon roof, and the best leather seats in any car at the show. In my opinion the car looks ten times better in person than in the photographs. The lines of the car and the amazing headlight configuration are great balancing factors that produce a beautiful automobile. My car would be silver and have the sunroof and sound packages. The car comes with a highly advance 265hp 3.2L V6. This has plenty of horsepower to accelerate you down the road. If you need more you can always upgrade to the 354hp V8 Audi S5 for another $12,000. It may be worth it.

As I sat down in the driver seat of this car I immediately fell in love with it. It had the great smell of premium leather and the gadgets gracing the interior are advanced and really cool. I love the way the NAV system and climate controls along with the shifter are all focused on the driver. This is the way it should be. The Audi A5 is meant to be driven. The engine start button on the center console is a really cool effect as well and you never have to take your key out of your pocket. The best part of the interior was the sound system. It had great base and could really pump out some volume. Opting for the Bang & Olufson sound package is a must.

The seats were plush yet firm enough to hold you down and the steering wheel had great feel without being too big. The controls on the steering wheel were easy to use and did not require you to look down. That is a great safety feature. Another amazing feature in the Audi is the dash system which has cool electroluminescent gauges and a screen that details all types of important information about the car. The A5 is a sexy machine that has all the latest technology. I’m in love with it and if you are considering getting a luxury sport coupe then you should check this car out.
