KTM Presents The E3w. Electric Cross

KTM presents the E3W, the "Twizy Killer"

KTM, originally a manufacturer of motorcycles of enduro and cross-country race, it has just announced the official launch in 2012 of the E3W. Presented last week, it is the first electrical car of three KTM’s wheels that opens new opportunities for the Austrian brand and aims as direct competition at the Twizy de Renault.

According to Stefan Pierer the weight is of about 500 kilos, the autonomy performs approximately 100 kilometres and the power situa in approximately 15 kW (20 CV). The entry in both squares is across double doors and the auto body autoamble is done of plastic materials.

If KTM’s electrical car was managing to enter production, the price will place, without batteries, between 5000-8000 €, price very looked like to the Twizy de Renault.

The concept of three wheels offers big advantages on the vehicles of four wheels: the set turns out to be more light (loss of weight), is constructed by fewer components (weight and reduction of costs), it needs less space (spatial economy) and there is created minor resistance of tread (saving of energy). All that is certainly key in her and mobility, since it diminishes the expense of energy and increases the autonomy of the batteries to reach an efficient mobility. The clear disadvantage of three wheels is the worst stability and stopped.
In the space of 24 months, it might initiate the production. Nevertheless, the search of partners for the project is fundamental, since KTM for yes alone cannot raise the gigantic project. A production in series would be profitable economically from 50.000 units.

Three wheeler ATVs were made illegal to manufacture or import due to their dangerous nature. I think “worse stability” is an understatement
