Having had the fun of publishing a reel of photos from Gran Turismo 5 once and twice before, I figured the third time would be a charm, with a theme of great muscle cars from bygone eras. I selected three subjects for this photoreel: A 1970 Dodge Charger R/T, a 1971 Ford Mustang Mach 1, and a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28.
My photos of the Charger were taken at a track unique to the Gran Turismo Series, Grand Valley Speedway. The Charger itself was the subject of an obscene amout of tuning, and, as a result, leaves a great wake of tire smoke joyously with each stamping of the gas pedal.
My subject of my next photoshoot was a black 1971 Ford Mustang Mach 1 with white stripes, taken to Japan’s Tsukuba Circuit. The ’stang has some good tuning, and has some whip-crack oversteer tendencies, all the better to burn out with, my dear!
The final car in the third Gran Turismo 5 Photoreel is a “Hugger Orange” 1969 Chevrolet Camaro. I took this one out in stock tune, for a certain tour of Europe, a stop at Circuit de la Sarthe in France and a quick race at Autodromo Nazionale Monza, in Italy. While stock, the Camaro handles very well for a car of its vintage, and I attribute this to the car having disc brakes at all wheels, which is an oddity for a machine of that age.
