Why Texting and Driving is Dangerous

A article based on the dangers of texting and driving.

Texting and driving is one of the most dangerous thing’s to do while you are driving.  Each year about 2000-5000 people die from texting and driving alone.  On average 1.6 million car crashes are said to have been a result of texting and driving.  This is 28% of all accidents that happen in a year. Drivers who send or read text messages are more likely to drift out of their lane.  If your texting and driving at an average speed of 35mph you need 90ft distance from the other car to react before causing an accident compared to driving impaired you only need 7 feet to react. If you’re driving an average speed of 70mph you need 319 feet to react if your texting and driving compared to 17ft to react when your driving impaired.  If your texting and driving you are 6 times more likely to result in an accident that while you are driving intoxicated.  88% of teens in America admitted to sending a text message, surfing the web, or talking on the phone behind the wheel in the past year.  I’m surprised that there haven’t been tons more accidents revolving around this matter.  So far only 32 states have completely banned texting and driving.  Why hasn’t the other 18 done the same thing?  The law enforcement really needs to start taking more urgent matters into this predicament.  Stop the accidents, stop texting and driving.
